This Week in Brand Journalism Jobs: Brands Want to be the Primary Source

Written by Madeline Stone | Sep 29, 2026, 1:15:00 PM

In this week's job roundup, we spotlight several brands hiring leaders to help them drive public conversations with highly original, data-forward content.

Workforce management software company UKG is looking for a Director of Thought Leadership & Newsroom to "build and lead an always-on newsroom that connects planned thought leadership with emerging news, business trends, customer conversations, workforce dynamics, and technology developments."

To do this, this person will mine UKG's proprietary data and workforce expertise to surface insights that "the market cannot get elsewhere."

Stripe is seeking an Editorial Director to bring its original stories and insights to its media partnerships and brand marketing channels. And workspace security platform Material Security is hiring a Senior Manager of Content Marketing who can turn internal insights into "research that press, analysts, and AI search engines cite."

That mention of AI search engines isn't unique to Material Security. More and more, brands want their content leaders to build programs with AI visibility in mind. The UKG listing specifically mentions it as a measure of success, while the Harvey Content Lead we highlight in the table below will partner with the SEO Lead to "apply search insights to content planning, development, and optimization."

The Stripe Editorial Director role is an interesting one. Like many of the other brand editorial roles we've seen, this person will "be an exceptional editor, writer, and creative partner with strong instincts about what earns attention." But their focus will largely be external, developing work for the company's media partnerships. They will "develop work that feels native to the audience and editorial environment in which it appears — not generic brand messaging placed beside someone else's work."

It's also the top-paying job on our list, with a salary ranging from $191,600 to $287,400.

Know a role we missed? Send it our way, and it could make next week's list.

We'll see you back here next week with another roundup of brand journalism jobs.

How We Built This List

Every week, we pull job postings looking for senior editorial and content-leadership roles: editorial directors, VPs and heads of content, managing editors, storytellers, data journalists, and similar titles. We prioritize those paying $100,000 or more.
