100 best episodes of The Office

Based on a two-season British workplace comedy with the same name, "The Office" debuted in 2005 to somewhat lackluster ratings. It seemed destined to be as short as the sitcom it was based on. The team at the floundering Dunder Mifflin paper company ultimately kept viewers laughing for nine seasons before wrapping up with a heartfelt finale in 2013. Since then, the show has lived on Netflix, where its popularity has only grown; it's reportedly the most popular show on the streaming service, beating "Friends" and all of Netflix's original content.

With its memorable characters, cringe-worthy moments, incredible writing, (and so many quotable lines)—"The Office" is known and remembered for so many great reasons. Sitcoms today take a page out of this show's book, whether they're trying to make people laugh or cry. Its mockumentary style has been mimicked by other popular shows like "Parks and Recreation" and "Modern Family."

Several of the show's actors, like B.J. Novak and Mindy Kaling, contributed their writing skills to the show, providing a unique way of keeping viewers involved in some of the crazier scenarios. Those who didn't enjoy the pranks and slapstick as much as its cult fans likely stayed for the storied romance between Jim and Pam (or perhaps Dwight and Angela). The show's signature shock and awe was typically delivered by Steve Carell, who famously portrayed Dunder Mifflin regional manager Michael Scott for the show's first seven seasons.

With 201 episodes, "The Office" offers a little something for all its fans. Stacker used IMDb ratings to rank these stories from #100 to #1, as chosen by the viewers, to see which episodes had the most impact. You may notice that the more heartwarming episodes, rather than the funniest, make it closer to the top. Read on to see if your favorite episode made the list.
