Best comedy TV shows of the '60s

Yes, the 1950s birthed some of the most iconic comedies in TV history—"I Love Lucy," "The Honeymooners," "The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet," and "Leave It to Beaver." But those sitcoms—a portmanteau for situational comedy—walked so that the 1960s could run with the new genre. It was the '60s gave us the first prime-time animated sitcom ("The Flintstones"), the first sitcom to have interracial leads playing equals ("I Spy"), the first sitcom starring a single woman ("That Girl"), the first sitcom to center on a blended family ("The Brady Bunch"), and so many more.

To see how these groundbreaking comedies of the decade stack up, Stacker compiled a list of the best '60s comedy TV shows based on IMDb user rating. To qualify, the show had to have comedy as one of its genres on IMDb and have at least 5,000 IMDb user votes. Data was collected in December 2022. Show posters are from OMDb.

Read on to see which iconic series made the list, which didn't, and the surprising '60s sitcom that viewers crowned #1.
