Our Story

We founded Stacker in 2017 with a simple vision: create a platform that connects publishers with engaging, data-driven stories. In the early days, we published stories ourselves — transforming public data into accessible coverage for readers.
Over time, our storytelling grew across news, business, entertainment, lifestyle, weather, and sports, drawing from more than 200 trusted data sources including the CDC, NOAA, TripAdvisor, and Zillow.

As our coverage expanded, so did our publisher network — quickly growing to include major local news organizations like Tribune, Lee Enterprises, and Hearst.
By the end of 2019, our stories were reaching more than 5 million readers each month, generating over 200 million page views through publisher partnerships and on-site growth.
In April 2020, we launched the Stacker Newswire as a free resource for publishers, unlocking rapid growth to over 1,000 newsroom partners.

With our publisher network thriving, we turned our focus to growing content partnerships. In 2020, we launched Stacker Studio to surface untold stories from independent storytellers and feature them in news outlets nationwide.
Studio dramatically expanded the volume of stories on the Stacker Newswire, paving the way for us to evolve beyond content creation and invest in building a platform designed to streamline the distribution and discovery of stories at scale.

In 2021, we launched Story Hub — a searchable library of 4,000 original, evergreen features designed to give publishers on-demand access to high-quality stories.
In 2022, we introduced Stacker Local, transforming data storytelling into localized series available across all 50 states and 385+ cities, giving publishers hyper-relevant content tailored to their communities.

In 2023, we launched Stacker Connect, a content syndication product that leverages our platform and distribution network to deliver even greater scale. By partnering with independent storytellers, we expanded both the breadth and depth of trusted content available on the Stacker Newswire, strengthening the value we provide to publisher partners.

Over time, Stacker has built the first content distribution platform for earned reach, enabling brands to scale the distribution of vetted stories across a trusted network of news outlets.
The result is a network of authentic connections between brands and publishers that powers a new content ecosystem — where stories funded by brands, distributed by Stacker, and featured across the world’s publishers strengthen authority, drive discovery, and surface in AI-driven results.
