Earlier this year, Stacker released updates to the keyword search functions in Story Hub to improve searchability among the newswire’s story archive.
As we worked to prioritize the next Story Hub feature, we looked at the market, and one thing became clear: In the quest to replace declining programmatic advertising revenue and stem the decline of social traffic, publishers are going to great lengths to target new, niche audiences in their communities. And so we moved quickly to provide support.
Stacker developed a new way for publishers to engage with our content. Our latest sorting tools offer designated audience filters designed to save time and improve the ability to identify content relevant to a particular audience. Publishers can access these audience filters via Story Hub or RSS feed, and there is now a streamlined process for partners to submit requests for RSS feeds directly from the Story Hub portal.
Stacker’s flourishing publisher network is vast and wide-ranging in its content priorities. While some publishers may depend on the newswire’s array of service journalism stories to support their audience engagement. Others may be a niche publication that relies on a particular subset of stories solely dedicated to either black communities, parenting, or technology to support the publication’s content goals.
Relying on primary verticals to find a story on a specific topic often requires additional effort via search. The audience filter feature eliminates that search effort, handling the digging for users by offering pre-sorted topics in a centralized location for publishers. Stacker’s initial set of audience filters highlights stories that cover stories focused on Black communities, cannabis, climate change, home, LGBTQ+ communities, parenting, service journalism, and technology.
A number of these audience themes were among the most frequently searched keyword terms in Story Hub, providing assurance of what publishers consistently seek. With this latest update, Stacker aims to make the partner portal platform a centralized location and one-stop-shop for all publisher needs, including manually publishing through Story Hub or submitting a request to receive our content through RSS feeds.

What's Next
Stacker anticipates building off of these latest updates to not only offer additional audience filters, but also to further streamline and automate the RSS feed process for publishers within Story Hub.
