The 20 newest richest people in the world
A global pandemic is fading, workers and companies alike are regaining their footing while global inflation proves persistent, and, amid it all, new billionaires are being crowned.
They span the U.S., Europe, China, and Southeast Asia. Many of the world's freshest billion-dollar faces owe their new fortunes to the fact that they were born into families who built great wealth during the 20th century and could hold onto it. Just a few can attribute their massive fortunes to companies birthed in the last decade.
Many new global aristocrats with billions at their disposal came into their riches due to the passing of relatives or spouses over the last year. The list contains several women who now control vast wealth after the passing of their husbands. Just seven of the newest billionaires hail from the United States, and their industries span real estate, food service, and financial services.
Stacker used Forbes' 2023 World's Billionaires List to find the richest people who were new to the billionaires list in 2023. Billionaires on this list are ranked by net worth as of March 10, 2023. Rankings reflect their status among others who were new to the list in 2023, while the worldwide rank reflects their ranking among all billionaires.
Forbes has added 150 new people to its billionaires list this year so far. Not every billionaire recently came into their wealth; some instead may have recently been involved in a transaction that brought their financial status to the attention of the broader public.
Read on to see who cracks the list of people graduating to the highest echelons of opulence.
