This Week in Brand Journalism Jobs: Creating the Stories That AI Cites

This week's brand journalism job openings include roles that blend storytelling and data analysis.

This week's job search yielded a smattering of listings where leading research initiatives is just as important as defining the narrative to come out of them.

Commerce verification platform Product.ai, for example, is hiring a Founding Data Journalist to "turn one of the largest first-party records of what actually works at online checkouts into the studies journalists cite and AI engines quote." Their ideal candidate is someone who has "pulled the data, found the story, written the piece, and called the source."

Fintech company Ramp is hiring an Economist who will translate the company’s data into practical recommendations for customers and prospects. This person needs a skill set that combines "economic judgment, applied data science, public writing, data visualization, and executive communication."

And applied AI lab Nooks wants its first Head of Communications & Content to, among other things, "develop recurring research programs and benchmark reports that establish Nooks as an authority in AI for sales."

Rather than just writing about what their employer is doing, these new content leaders are being asked to help define and create the type of analysis that gets brands mentioned in the news and cited by AI. This takes someone with an eye for narratives that grab attention and build brand authority.

Companies are increasingly using the word "storytelling" to describe this kind of work. Even if that word isn't used in the job title itself, many of the listings call it out.

Northern Trust wants its newest Senior Writer to serve as "the organization's chief storyteller," keeping "human-centered storytelling" at the very core of the work. And Bausch + Lomb wants a "world-class storyteller" who is "equal parts journalist, producer, videographer, editor, social strategist and creative director."

As for industries, financial and professional services firms were heavily represented in this week's batch. These companies are not traditional newsrooms by any means, but they're certainly running in-house media operations like one.

Know a role we missed? Send it our way, and it could make next week's list.

We'll see you back here next week with another roundup of brand journalism jobs.

How We Built This List

Every week, we pull job postings looking for senior editorial and content-leadership roles: editorial directors, VPs and heads of content, managing editors, storytellers, data journalists, and similar titles. We prioritize those paying $100,000 or more.
