How gas prices have changed in Lake Charles in the last week

With the year 2024 coming to a close, gasoline prices currently remain just above the $3 mark, the lowest national average in years, according to AAA data. Drivers are seeing costs for a gallon of gas down by 9 cents compared to this time last year.

Meanwhile, GasBuddy data shows pump prices have climbed slightly in the past few weeks due to price cycling during the holiday season. "As families travel for the holidays, this volatility at the pump serves as a great reminder to check prices before filling up to save as much as 25 to 50 cents per gallon—a trend that will likely persist into 2025," GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan said in a recent statement.

States in the Midwest and the South are seeing some of the lowest average gas prices. At least 31 states have average fuel prices lower than $3 per gallon, while California and Hawai'i are the only states where average prices are above $4.
