The movies leaving Netflix this month
As spring fully blooms in April, it's the perfect time to organize, clean, and declutter your house. Unfortunately, Netflix is also doing its own bit of spring cleaning this month, and using quite a heavy scrub on its library: In April 2025, 36 movies are leaving Netflix.
There are quite a few reasons a movie can get dropped from a streamer like Netflix; perhaps the film's rights are no longer available, or its popularity doesn't justify the cost of licensing. The motivation may vary, and though most of Netflix's April casualties already met their fate on April 1, there's still time to catch some of the three dozen departing films.
While scary movies may hit best in darker months and closer to spooky season, horror fans will have to binge a quick succession of freak-out films soon before they get the ax. You only have until April 11 to reacquaint yourself with 2022's "Scream," the fifth installment of the popular franchise featuring stalwarts like Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette, along with newcomers Jenny Ortega and 2025 Oscar winner Mikey Madison. Those scream queens wouldn't fare well in 2020's "A Quiet Place Part II," which silently leaves Netflix a day later. Then, you can round out your mini horror festival with 2018's "Hereditary," whose malevolent forces vanish from Netflix on April 15.
Comedy equals tragedy plus time, so take a few days off and then turn on 2023's "No Hard Feelings," starring Jennifer Lawrence and Andrew Barth Feldman, before April 21. The controversial comedy centers on a bartender who agrees to date a socially awkward high school senior.
