America’s national parks as we know them today consist of more than 430 areas, with 85 million acres in 50 states and other territories, like Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. People make more than 300 million visits to the parks annually, peaking in July. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited of them all, but which has the distinction of being the oldest?
