This Week in Brand Journalism Jobs: Writing for Humans and Machines

Brands are hiring writers for two audiences: people and AI. See this week's brand journalism jobs at Anthropic, Amazon, ADP, Chime, and more.

During this week's job search, we found that companies are hiring people to write and create content with two audiences in mind: humans and LLMs.

Some of the open jobs we found focus closely on one of those audiences.

ADP, for example, appears twice on our job board this week, with two very different roles. It's hiring a content strategist to write articles, guides, FAQs, and other resources specifically to help the brand "become a trusted source" in AI search. At the same time, it's hiring a managing editor to "define and elevate the editorial standard for ADP Research," the division whose "work helps business leaders, policymakers, and the public understand workforce change with greater clarity and confidence."

Chime is also hiring a content marketing manager who will "own Chime's blog and editorial content plan for SEO and AEO," including by structuring content so that LLMs can find it and cite it.

Meanwhile, Deloitte is hiring a senior editor to work on research and other external communications meant to reach executives across the globe.

Other companies emphasize writing for both humans and LLMs at the same time. Though the job listing mentions GEO in the title, Amazon News' AI search-focused editor will need to think about content's effectiveness for humans, too. The listing says they must be comfortable "diving into GEO data to identify content opportunities that are both compelling for readers and optimized for machines."

There were also a few companies — like Chime, Anthropic, and Okta — who have repeatedly appeared on our job board because they continue to hire editorial talent. Brands are investing in full-fledged content operations, and they need people with strong writing skills and editorial judgment to staff them.

If you're looking to land one of these jobs, here are some skills that are worth emphasizing since they showed up across this week's listings:

  • Making complex ideas or data clearer
  • Fact-checking and safeguarding accuracy across written materials
  • Working with people in different functions
  • Showing measurable results from your work

We'll explore more about landing brand journalism jobs in future editions of the Stacker Dispatch.

How We Built This List

Every week, we pull job postings looking for senior editorial and content-leadership roles: editorial directors, VPs and heads of content, managing editors, storytellers, data journalists, and similar titles. We prioritize those paying $100,000 or more.
