This Week in Brand Journalism Jobs: Fintech's Content Hires Come With a Public Persona

Financial services and fintech companies made up half of this week's list, including a role for an economist who also writes and goes on camera.

Financial services and fintech companies led this week's list of brand journalism jobs.

Asset manager Blue Owl is looking to bring on a Head of Content at the Managing Director level, paying up to $300,000 for someone who has 10 years of content experience and a "deep appreciation for content as a strategic asset." Compound Planning, a digital family office, is hiring a Head of Content with a "strong personal writing ability" and a "track record of owning a content function end-to-end."

And automated investing and personal finance platform Wealthfront is hiring two people to work on content: a Market Commentary Writer and a Lead Economist.

The writer will work on short- and long-form written and video content to "inspire and empower smart financial decisions," while the economist will "monitor market and macroeconomic news daily and generate timely, unique economic analyses." The economist will create public-facing content based on those analyses and conduct interviews to publicize their research.

The search for economists who are also comfortable with writing and going on camera is a growing trend in brand editorial. The Wealthfront economist role echoes the Ramp economist role we highlighted in the September 9th edition of the Stacker Dispatch. That listing sought someone who could combine "economic judgment, applied data science, public writing, data visualization, and executive communication."

Both Wealthfront and Ramp sit on large first-party datasets, so it makes sense that they would seek someone who could turn that data into press-worthy findings. Having those findings shared through an engaging, public personality makes it that much more memorable. As proprietary data becomes even more important in the era of AI visibility, this type of hire is likely to become even more valuable.

We'll keep an eye on this trend in future editions.

Know a role we missed? Send it our way, and it could make next week's list.

We'll see you back here next week with another roundup of brand journalism jobs.

How We Built This List

Every week, we pull job postings looking for senior editorial and content-leadership roles: editorial directors, VPs and heads of content, managing editors, storytellers, data journalists, and similar titles. We prioritize those paying $100,000 or more.
