Most popular TV shows on Apple TV+ this week

Apple TV+ has quietly grown into a home for prestige and historical dramas, big-budget miniseries, and engaging comedies with bankable actors. After breaking onto the scene in 2019, well after other streamers like Netflix, Hulu, and Max had begun marking their territory, Apple invested in quality over quantity. In the five years since launching, its library has only gotten increasingly robust and it just keeps growing with critically acclaimed shows.

How did Apple earn such a solid reputation? It started with star-studded ensemble dramas like "The Morning Show," which swooped up five Primetime Emmy nominations for its first season, including a win for actor Billy Crudup in the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Apple went on to develop projects at all ends of the genre spectrum, collaborating with horror auteurs like M. Night Shyamalan on his psychological thriller series "Servant" and showcasing Chris Evans outside his Captain America suit on the domestic drama "Defending Jacob." Then, of course, was "Ted Lasso," the soccer comedy starring Jason Sudeikis that transcended its niche of sports fans with weekly, must-watch episodes.

More recently, Apple has pumped out shows at a breakneck pace, adding and committing to new seasons of fan-favorites such as the Gary Oldman-starring "Slow Horses'' and the sci-fi workplace series "Severance," while still finding room for schlocky but addicting originals such as the Idris Elba plane thriller "Hijack."

To see what series are piquing subscribers' interest most recently, Stacker compiled a list of the most popular TV shows on Apple TV+ right now, using data from Reelgood as of June 28, 2024. IMDb ratings, and other data points for supplementary insights.
